- Sep 1, 2026 – Agentic AI for Citizen Science and Environmental Monitoring
- Sep 15, 2026 – Building Intelligent Solutions: What Teams Should Create and What Success Looks Like (Q&A Type of session)
🚀 Hackathon Timeline
- Registration Opens: May 1, 2026
- Registration Closes: August 31, 2026
- Hackathon Period: September 16 – September 30, 2026
- Judging: October 1– October 15, 2026
- Winners Announced: October 24, 2026 (IEEE iGET Conference)
Eligibility
- Participants must meet the legal age requirement in their country of residence
- Open to individuals or teams (each participant can join only one team)
- All participants must register on Devpost before the deadline
- Projects must be original and developed during the hackathon period
- Organizers and judges are not eligible to participate as competitors
- Submissions must not violate any copyright, licensing, or third-party IP rights
- All projects must include a public code repository (e.g., GitHub) with source code and documentation
Prizes
- 5000$ Cash/InKind Prize TBD.
In case of a tie, both teams will receive the higher prize, and the lower prize will not be awarded.
All Cash Prizes Subject to IEEE rules and regulation for any monetary disbursement.
🎖 Certificates- IEEE Certificate of Merit for the top 3 winning teams
- IEEE Certificate of Participation for all eligible participants
- Top 3 teams may receive a 1-year IEEE Basic Membership (subject to IEEE regulations)
- Eligible winners who are IEEE members may be nominated for IEEE Senior Member elevation
- All certificates will be issued within 60 days after the hackathon
- Expected by December 31, 2026
Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

| ✨ Innovation & Creativity | Originality of the idea and creative use of technology to address ecosystem and citizen science challenges | 1–10 | 20% |
| 🛠 Technical Implementation | Quality of prototype, architecture, functionality, and effective use of tools, APIs, or data sources | 1–10 | 20% |
| 👤 Usability & User Experience | Ease of use, clarity of interface, and accessibility for intended users | 1–10 | 15% |
| 📈 Feasibility & Scalability | Potential for real-world implementation, scalability, and integration with existing systems | 1–10 | 15% |
- Each criterion will be scored on a scale of 1–10
- Final scores will be calculated using the weighted evaluation
- The projects with the highest overall scores will be selected as winners
- Top projects will be ranked based on final weighted scores
- In case of a tie, judges may consider overall impact and innovation for final decision
- The top 3 teams will be awarded as winners
